3 Ways to Make Your Home Give a Great First Impression

The front of your property speaks volumes about you; not only to your guests but also to everybody who passes by your home. It is not only the front of your house that makes an impression, it is the whole frontage area that people see; and therefore you should be looking after it as much as the paintwork on your windows.

So what can you do to ensure that everybody is impressed with you property? Here are a few vital ingredients to make your property noteworthy:

1. The Driveway

Whether your guests arrive by car or on foot, they will come into contact with your driveway, and it should always be in good condition. Weather can have a huge impact on a driveway, and you should make sure that it is sealed professionally to make it last longer. Any cracks or holes should be attended to immediately, and you should ensure that you have no plants growing through the surface.

Your driveway should be considered as the red carpet to your home, and should be cared for in the same way. Laying and maintaining your drive should be a professional-only job; after all, you are unlikely to have the equipment or skill to do either well.

2. The Garden

Your garden should be looked at as an extension to your property, and you should make sure it looks as fit for occupation as any of your rooms. You would not have wallpaper hanging off the walls of your lounge, so why would you want dead or diseased plants in your garden?

The same is true of your lawn; a worn out carpet looks terrible and so does a dying, patchy lawn. Basic garden maintenance is something that many of us can do, and we should make sure that we do it at least once a month. For very little investment, a garden can be made to look stunning all year round.

3. The Property’s Boundary

If you have a wall or fence around your property, it is a sure way to make an impression; either good or bad. Some of these boundaries are high enough to stop any view of the inside, and as such are all that people see of your home. If your walls or fence are in anything less than pristine condition, the impression people will get is that the owner is lazy or doesn’t care.

It doesn’t matter how beautiful your garden is kept, or how well maintained your driveway is; if people can’t see these things they will judge you by what they can see. It may only be a coat of paint or a new wood panel that is needed, but if the work is not done, your home will be assumed to be the same as your boundary.

These three things are what people see as they approach your home, and if they are in god condition, they can set the tone for your visitor’s experience. For what can be a small investment in a well laid drive or maintained garden, you can reap the reward of the admiration of your peers.
