While gigantic television sets and surround sound are not unusual things for the average household to own these days, there is still something really appealing – if you love TV, movies or sport – about having a really great home cinema set up. Whether you like to sit and watch horror movies alone late at night, invite friends over to have a party and watch that must-see sporting event, or snuggle up with the family and watch the latest 3D family adventure, having a really good home entertainment arrangement in your home can lead to some really good times, and make you the envy of your friends.
Of course, a home cinema isn’t just about the hardware you use to watch things and project sound. It is also about comfort and the whole ambiance lending itself to relaxation, fun and entertainment. Here are some cool design and furnishing ideas to take your home cinema to the next level!
Really, Really Comfy Seating

When you have spent a lot of money on a good TV and stereo system, it is because you plan to spend a lot of time watching it, and that is not going to be much fun on a messy old couch with lumps and saggy bits everywhere. If you watch your TV alone a lot, a really nice leather recliner complete with somewhere to put your drink and popcorn can make the home cinema set up complete, allowing you to put your feet up, sink back and enjoy whatever it is you love to watch best after a hard day’s work.
If you are looking for something more family friendly, a big couch with room for everyone to sprawl on and chill out can be a great place to watch films and bond. If you invite people over to make use of your TV watching facilities often, comfortable temporary seating like upscale leather bean bags can allow you to make room for everybody when needed on things that can be stowed away easily when there are less people in the house. The most important thing is that everybody can be comfortable and relaxed.
Drinks and Snacks

Realistically, nobody wants you to pause the game, movie or show to go to the fridge and grab another round of beers or bowl of chips, so why not consider getting a cooler you can keep in the home cinema room, and stock it up with drinks and treats before you begin your viewing session? Also, make sure you have a coffee table or side tables next to your seating where you can put snacks within easy reach of all of your family or guests.
Lighting
Some people prefer having the lights out completely to get that true movie theatre feel, but this isn’t for everyone. Other users prefer to be able to see their home theatre installation better so they can tamper with settings or use the remote while viewing, and making it too dark can also make it awkward when people want to move around. Adjustable lighting, for example lamps that can be dimmed, can make for a good compromise, allowing you to make it easier to see when you need to without the light around you taking your eyes off the screen.
