Homes Switching to Portable Gardens

Homes Switching to Portable Gardens 1Beautiful potted plants in Larkspur’s Copper Canyon, Texas, USA home. “My mother definitely takes the credit for the composition of this picture – those are all her plants which she lovingly picked out and has taken care of. I just love her placement of the red water pump and iron chicken,” she says. Photo Courtesy: Larkspur Lazuli

You have designed your garden and back yard using a variety of things such as creating beautifully shaped borders, a luscious green lawn, barbecue area, your new swimming pool and even deciding to have raised garden beds to make them more prominent. Not only have you designed the garden yourself but you have also done the hard work that has provided you with a tremendous amount of satisfaction.

Now you are able to sit in your conservatory and look over your back garden and admire how beautiful it is. That all may be fine but what about the inside of your home? Yes, it is furnished to the highest standard but there is something missing – there are no flowers or plants, no life.

Flowers Last Longer In Soil

Like many people, you could go out to the florist and buy a bunch of flowers, but you don’t like the idea of doing that as the flowers will only survive for a few days. You have always been of the opinion that flowers should not be cut at their stems but should remain untouched in soil to survive for as long as possible.

An alternative could be to buy top quality imitation silk flowers but, as nice as they look, you know they are not the real thing. They also do not have the smell that you get with many real flowers and plants and that is something you so love.

Choosing Plant Pots

Don’t despair – there is a solution. You can call into your local garden centre and select some beautiful looking plant pots together with some suitable plants and flowers that are rooted and already placed in the pots. To all intents and purposes, a plant pot is the equivalent of your raised garden beds you have used outside.

Pot plants are extremely portable meaning you can have your own “mini garden” almost anywhere in your home. They are reasonably easy to move from one area of your home to another so this enables you to change them around.

Variety

The great thing about plant pots is that they come in all shapes, sizes, materials and colours. This provides variety about the home and it also enables you to use plants of various sizes as the larger plant pots can hold plants with larger roots.

The pot can be placed in a stand that allows the water to collect without causing any damage to the floor area where the pot plant has been placed. This portability means you can place the pot plants anywhere in your home as long as the plant is suitable for the climate within the house.

An Indoor Garden

So, by using pot plants inside your home has in effect meant that you have brought your garden indoors. Pot plants may not be as large as raised garden beds so you are unable to have several plants on display in the same pot. However, you can buy a number of plant pots and place them close together to create a similar effect.

In conclusion, although you may not be able to bring raised garden beds into your home, you can use pot plants instead to bring your outside garden into your delightful home to create colour and some wonderful aromas.
