Planning the Perfect Living Space

Your home is where you’ll spend a lot of your time, but you need to have a house that you can comfortably live in. Planning the perfect living space can take some effort, but the rewards more than justify it.

Using the most of your living space and creating an atmosphere within it can brighten up your home, making it a much more comfortable place for you to live in and for guests to visit.

But to achieve that, you first need to plan.

Look at your current area

To start planning your perfect living space, you first need to look at what space you have available. Look at how your furniture is placed and if it could be better arranged. It might be hard to look at your house in any other way from what you’re used to at first, but once you’re able to see your settees and sofas in a different position you might find a way to save a lot of space.

Deciding if you have enough space available in your room for the design idea you want to implement is also important at the start before money starts being spent.

Draw your idea first

Getting a plan drawn up of the way you’d like your furniture before you start can help you show others what it is you’re hoping to achieve. Other people can offer insight and advice, as well as help point things out you otherwise would have missed.

Drawing your perfect living space will help you stay focused and to the point when putting the plan into action. It’ll also help you decide if there is enough space between your settees and sofas before you start moving them around.

Colours

Colours can change the entire feel of a room. You might have decided on a design for your room already, but if you haven’t then it’s important you get the colours right.

Making sure the colours match each other in the planning stage can save you time later. Waiting until you’ve already started painting is a bad choice. Contrasting colours can sometimes work well together, so testing out different colours is a good idea.

If you’re planning on keeping your existing furniture, you should make sure that the potential new colour of your room works well with it. If you’re buying new furniture, making sure that it matches the colour is just as important.

Lighting

Lighting should be considered the entire way through planning. Working out the location of light sources in day time and night is necessary.

Lighting can completely control the mood and setting in a room. It can be used in many different ways to change the atmosphere.

Deciding which type of lighting will be the most suitable should be part of your plan. Lights from the ceiling are important in tall rooms. Making sure there are no dark corners by using a lamp to light it up can help add to the more inviting feeling of the room.
