Interior design is, of course, a very personal thing and it’s something that we all will have different tastes in. What’s good for one person isn’t necessarily good for someone else, and this means that there can be no ‘definitive guide’ on the matter.
In fact only you can say whether or not your interior design is making you happy and whether or not you’re proud of it, and to do this you need to ask yourself a few questions. Here we will look at a checklist of questions you can check your rooms against to see if you’re really happy with the way your rooms are laid out and to see if they really serve the purposes you want them to.
Does it Make You Comfortable?

It’s no good having a room that looks fantastic objectively if it makes you feel uncomfortable to spend any time in it. Of course, a good design for any room should be one that lends itself perfectly to coming in after a hard day and just lying down and forgetting all of your worries. If your room can’t do that, then you need to have a rethink about your priorities.
Is Your Room Practical?

We have different rooms for different purposes, and what you use one room for, again, is different from the way you use another. For instance, your dining room, of course, serves the main purpose of entertaining guests and eating dinner which means it needs to have enough space to sit lots of people around the table (as many as you need often) and which also means that it needs to have an easy walkway from the kitchen for serving up. Likewise, the living room is for socializing and watching TV/reading, so you need to make sure that you have seating arranged in such a way that you can easily face all your guests for discussions or that you can easily watch the television the rest of the time – which means no tall objects in front of it.

Is Your Room Easy to Clean?

In terms of practicality, something that will apply to all rooms is the importance of keeping everything clean and tidy. You will, of course, need to clean your room from time to time, and how long this takes will largely depend on how you’ve chosen to organize the room. If you have things all over the floor and lots of awkward nooks and crannies you can’t reach, then cleaning will be a nightmare and it will quickly become a mess. If it’s minimal and has lots of open spaces and flat surfaces then in no time at all you’ll be able to make it look spick and span.
Does Your Room Reflect Your Personality?
When people come and visit, then they will look around the room and think of it as a representation of your personality projected onto the space. Your room then needs to talk about who you are and have your personality stamped on it lest it just look like a show-home with no personality at all.
