A great proportion of vintage homewares is tremendously collectable, and will be a great investment for the future. Or get a vintage feel by beginning a collection of seashells or stamps, and displaying them in your country home.
Vintage and antique collectables are varying in type, from collections of vintage dinner plates to antique French furniture. They vary in scale as much as they do in cost, and some will take up your time and effort to find whereas others will be readily available. If you are looking to start searching for the perfect vintage collector’s items, think about how much space you have and how you can store/display it.
Vintage English homewares are great home accessories and will make your home feel warm and comfortable. Perhaps a selection of vintage biscuit tins might bring a practical collectable into your country home, or even vintage Laura Ashley furniture and textile designs.
Most importantly with collectables, do check the item for a good maker/label, as this will indicate just how valuable the item is. Also, be sure you are buying quality goods; even if it would be the conclusion to a set and you’ve been searching for a long time, it’s still worth waiting for the perfect piece.
If you want to wander across the pond, then French vintage homewares are highly collectable due to the timeless elegant style and great quality craftsmanship. French painted furniture is also a beautiful addition to your house, the kitchen especially, as it is practical and chic. Other French collectables include vintage copper pans, vintage flatware (cutlery), and tremendously well upholstered floral vintage armchairs.
Quirky Vintage Collector’s Items
Of course, there are some items that have a less serious approach, and will provide some excellent topics of conversation as well as much needed everyday decor humor. A vintage cash register for example, can be a fun thing to play with, to look at and a beautiful item for a home office displayed upon a vintage desk next to your rustic antique bookcases.

Vintage nautical homewares too are cheeky and fun ways to lighten up your home, and especially perfect for decorating beach houses!
Antique sewing machines are more practical than quirky, but their beauty is exquisite and cannot be surpassed by modern vintage reproduction sewing machines. An old Singer which has an attached table and pedal is absolutely timeless.
