Take a look at your bed with a critical eye. What sort of shape is it in? The chances are it has been a bit neglected over the years. We tend not to think about our beds too much, but it’s worth having a second look at what you are sleeping on. If you upgrade and get a few more luxuries here and there, then the chances are you will get a far higher quality of sleep – and we could all do with that.
In this article we are going to tell you how to transform your bed from a functional pit to a luxurious place of relaxation and laziness!
Start from the Frame Up

Is it time you upgraded your bed? Why don’t you treat yourself, and in the meantime how about going from a double to a king-size? It’ll give you far more space to stretch out, and if you sleep with a partner then you will both feel much more comfortable. Choose a really beautiful and sturdy frame that is built to last. Some people opt for a divan (which is great because it has linen storage underneath) while others go for a pine or a metal frame.
Whatever you choose, make sure you get something that is well-made, otherwise you will end up having to replace it again sooner than you’d think.
The Mattress and Pillows

There’s no point investing in a beautiful new bed if you’re going to throw an old, knackered mattress on top of it! Buying a new bed means buying a new mattress too, so shop around because there are lots of different options available. You can’t go far wrong with a memory foam mattress – they are wonderfully comfortable and will give you a great night’s sleep.
As for the pillows – get memory foam versions of those too. You’ll need at least four – two on either side. Once you have got all this sorted, you are nearly there – it’s just the linen to go!
The Bed Linen
Now is not the time to head to your nearest discount store for cheap linen! If you have gone to the effort of finding a new bed, mattress and pillows, then it deserves to be draped in the finest bed linen you can find!
Choose materials with a high cotton percentage and make sure that the stitching and buttons look like they have been sewn with care. Choose a color that is relaxing and sleep-inducing – pastel shades such as lilac, baby blue and soft yellow are nice. Dress the bed with your beautiful new linen, then stand back and admire your work!

Once the bed is ready it’s time to get yourself ready, and this means a nice relaxing bath and an early night. Don’t drink any alcohol so that you know you are getting quality sleep, and turn off your phone too. Climb into your newly-made paradise with a good book and some soft lighting and before you know it, you will drift off into the most sublime sleep you have ever had! zzzzzz…..
