Non-washable fabrics, as the name implies, are fabrics that can’t be washed. Normally, these are clothes that can be damaged if washed, therefore they have to be dry-cleaned. The name can also refer to clothes that can’t be washed in the washing machine for the same reason and have to be hand-washed in order not to be damaged.

To make sure your clothes are non-washable and can’t be placed in the washing machine but have to be taken special care of, you should always check the labels. It is quite a complicated thing to remove stains from non-washable fabrics and it usually appears as a disaster. People often throw away clothes they love because of stains that they can’t cope with. However, here are some very handy tips on how to effectively remove stains from non-washable fabrics and make your clothes look great and clean again.

Check out our suggestions and try them on your clothes, so that you can enjoy using them again:

Juice Stains

In case you accidentally spill juice on your clothes that are non-washable, use a paper towel to wipe off as much of the liquid as the towel can absorb. Then put a bit of salt on a slightly damp sponge and gently rub. Make sure the sponge is very soft, so that you don’t damage the fabric. Then rub a little bit of denatured alcohol on the stained area and let it dry. This should do the job. Keep in mind that you should not let the stain sit on your clothes for too long before you clean it, otherwise the spilled juice might become much more difficult to remove.

Coffee And Tea Stains

Coffee stains are so hard to clean, they can indeed give you a headache. However, it’s not impossible to get rid of them, even from non-washable fabrics. To clean coffee stains, dissolve 15 ml borax in 500 ml water. Apply the solution on a soft sponge and gently rub the stained area. In case this doesn’t work, try with mixing one part of hydrogen peroxide with six parts of water. This is a very powerful solution that can remove coffee and tea stains.

Ink Stains

It’s very common to see an ink stain on your clothes after a long day at work. To remove such stains from non-washable fabrics, use glycerine. Apply glycerine directly on the stain and let it sit for up to fifteen minutes. Then apply a bit of oil solvent and allow it to dry.

Oil Stains

Oil is one of the most difficult stains to remove from clothes. Especially from non-washable ones. However, there is a way to do it. Apply oil solvent on the stained area and let it sit there for about ten minutes. In case the stain still remains after ten minutes, apply oil solvent again. Sprinkle baking soda on the stain and let it sit for ten more minutes. It will absorb some of the oil. Then wipe away the baking soda using a soft sponge.

Wine Stains

To remove wine stains from non-washable fabrics, mix equal parts of salt and cream of tartar. Rub the stain and let it sit for ten minutes. Then use a soft sponge or a brush to clean it.

There are stains that seem impossible to remove, especially when it comes to non-washable fabrics. However, nothing is impossible. Use our tips to remove tough stains from your clothes or fabrics.

Do you have any ideas on how to remove water stain marks from a fabric lunch box? I have tried washing up liquid, immersing it in warm water, laundry wash, but the stains are still there. Many thanks
