Refitting a kitchen is an exciting time where suddenly all of your style ideas can become a reality. This is the perfect time to customize your kitchen so that is practical, stylish and suits your lifestyle. We all know that a kitchen has to be functional, but it should be luxurious and on-trend too!
When it comes to the perfect kitchen, there are a few things that you just can’t be without and in this article we’ll tell you all about them.
The Big Kitchen Table
Everyone knows that the best chats happen around the kitchen table. Whether it is daytime coffees and cake, or evening candlelit chats with a glass of wine, the kitchen table is the place to be in any house. Find a lovely big chunky table that comfortably seats at least eight people around it. The bigger the better – so blow the budget on this one! A big wooden farmhouse table sets any kitchen off perfectly, so choose one that you love and it’ll serve you well for years. You’ll need some chairs to set around it too, or possibly benches – whatever you’d prefer. Make sure the table always has a fresh vase of flowers as an eye-catching centerpiece.
A Dresser
No kitchen is complete without a dresser. Not only is it the perfect place to store your plates, cups and saucers (and therefore make room in the cupboards) but it is also a great place to put a fruit bowl, cards and flowers. Dressers are so handy because they usually come with drawers that you can store things like tablemats, napkins, cutlery and tablecloths. Get the biggest dresser that will fit in the space that you have for it as you will definitely appreciate all the extra storage space.
A Decent Cooker
Every kitchen should have a decent cooker, so if there is one thing that you really shell out on – let it be the cooker. Some people go for a range cooker which can also heat the house. Whichever type of cooker you choose, make sure it looks really stylish and get one with a really big area for cooking on. A cooker that is too small just creates loads of problems so you’ll always be thankful that you splashed out on a large one. Make sure the color fits the style of the rest of the kitchen too.
A Breakfast Bar
If you have the space, a breakfast bar is the perfect place to enjoy coffee and croissants with a paper first thing in the morning. All it needs is a couple of stylish-looking stools and you’re away – it’s a real bonus to any kitchen and the surface is so versatile that you can use it as extra food preparation space when it’s not in use as a breakfast bar.
There are plenty of other things that your stylish kitchen will need – this is just the start of it. You can find lots of stylish bits and pieces from thrift shops and second hand stores which will decorate and really set off the kitchen. Be as creative as you can!
