How To Create A Fresh Look For Your Living Room

Are you tired of coming home to a boring, dark living room? Or perhaps you have had the same interior for so many years, that you want to rearrange the whole house entirely?

During the winter, we hardly ever find time to change our interior. We all prefer to sit on the couch, with an interesting book and a cup of hot tea, rather than redecorate the rooms one by one. Here are some great decorating tips:

Pay attention to the floor

Are you sick of your old carpet? During the winter, you probably find it a bit difficult to maintain it properly and it gradually loses its bright colours. As a result, the whole atmosphere becomes significantly darker. You can buy some new cheery yellow or bright colored rugs. The will be like a burst of sunshine for you and your home. As for the old carpet… perhaps you should leave it somewhere in the closet to wait for the next winter.

DIY Artwork…Why not?

This is another great idea for a summer-looking house. Decorative wall designs, for instance, are very suitable, especially for some big, blank walls. You can hang up some nice paintings (or family pictures from your last family vacation) on the walls and turn the whole living room into a stylish home gallery. You can even take some of your kids’ drawings. This will make your home look very cosy.

Also, look through one of those home improvement magazines or some Art & Inspiration related website. You can find a lot of interesting, home-art solutions. A great idea is to take one of your old, empty frames; take a tree branch (without the leaves) and stick it on the frame. Then buy some big, coat buttons and apply them to your improvised tree. You can leave it like that, or paint the frame in some bright colour. This is a great solution, especially if you are more creative. Let your imagination fly and you will be surprised with the result.

Pile on the pillows

Make your living room look fresh, stylish and cosy. Buy (or sew) some new pillow cases. Don’t shy away from mixing the patterns. You can combine geometrical prints with floral. It is all up to you and your creativity.

Get rid of all your unnecessary things

Well, this may sound pretty obvious, but if your living room is full of stuff, that you hardly ever use, you will never manage to refresh your interior. Simply because they will occupy most of the space in it and eventually every further decoration will be exaggerated. That is why the first thing that you will have to do, is to get rid of all the useless things. See if you can donate or sell some of them and put the rest into some boxes in the basement. You can put an inscription on each of the boxes in order to find things easily.
