Are you thinking about mixing up your typical red and green holiday decorations this year? Red, green, and white are the traditional colors of Christmas, and look lovely in many homes. But why not consider a new color combination that will keep the spirit of the holidays in a fresh and unique way? Let these colors inspire you. Imagine embellishing your home with glimmering golds, purples, blues, and teals. This year, make your holidays even more memorable with one of these color schemes, or create your own!
1. Silver & Gold

If you want to keep your décor classic and simple, try removing the bright colors and decorating with the holiday accent colors: gold and silver. Chances are you have some gold and silver décor from former Christmases in that storage unit, which will save you some shopping time and money. The great thing about these metallics is that they can be ornate and bold, like the wreath in the photo above, or they can add just a simple sparkle to your home for the holidays.

Nothing looks as fresh and invigorating as beautiful shades of teal, green, and silver. Maybe these colors remind you of your favorite toothpaste, or maybe they just make you feel energized. Either way, they’re sure to brighten up your home in a festive and contemporary manner for the holidays. Use various shades of green and teal, and add some sparkle with silver tinsel. Your holiday home will be memorable; and better yet, will leave your guests energized and ready to take on the winter blues.
3. Purple & Gold

Purple and gold are royal colors, the colors of a king. This Christmas season, give your home a regal ambiance with this rich color scheme. Blend together all shades of gold and bronze, and top it all off with a smash of rich purples. If you only use these two colors, feel free to mix it up with a combination of unique textures and styles. Or, add in some natural colors like cream, brown, or sage green, and you’ll have a brilliantly unique holiday home fit for the royalty you know you are.
4. Red, White & Silver

If you love all things earthy and modern, consider using these basic colors to decorate your home. Using white and silver will blend with the earthy tones in your home, and red will give it a beautiful, natural pop of color. Frost your tree, windows and dining table with white and silver snowflakes, glitter, and ornaments. Add a splash of brightness with red bows on the tree and a few red ornaments here and there. Red and white candy canes are a great festive accent, and can even be the inspiration for your entire home.
5. Bright Colors

Make your holidays bright with an assortment of cheery colors. From pinks and blues to purples and oranges, anything is possible. You can use bright colors for any style with color schemes such as pastel, classic, jewel, or even neon. Choose a style that fits your personality and go crazy with color this Christmas.

For another fresh outlook on Christmas, try combining one light color with one dark color for a rich ambiance that still leaves you feeling fresh. Baby blue or mint with purple is a unique blend of colors that will set your home apart from your mother-in-law’s traditional red and green homespun Christmas décor. Why not show off your favorite colors this year? Add a little glitter and you’re sure to create your family’s most memorable Christmas by far.
