We’re yet to meet someone who doesn’t have a dream home in their minds, even if it’s one that’s a constant work in progress. It doesn’t even matter how outrageously expensive, far-fetched or unattainable it or some of its elements may be. It is a “dream” house, after all.
This brings us to our little checklist of nine awesome and gorgeous things we want in our dream home:
1) A secret room

We saw it in the detective movies and read about it in the novels. Since then, we have been hooked and have wanted this more than anything else. A nicely furnished room behind a painting or the fireplace… enough said!
2) A gigantic skylight

Just one square is not enough. We want an entire row of skylight. Because, nothing makes a house look as beautiful as natural light does. Moreover, for all the money we’ll be spending on everything else, the gigantic skylight sure goes a long way in saving the electricity bills.
3) An indoor slide
This slide is a little present for that little kid hidden somewhere inside us. We want our indoor slide to start from our bedroom and end right in the swimming pool. And if not that, then we want it from the bedroom to the dining area. After all, there’s hardly anything more awesome than being able to mix fun and ease-of-life.
4) A backyard beach with fire-pit

Why go to the beach (that’s mostly likely to be crowded at all times), when you can have your private mini-beach right in your backyard or on the terrace? Okay, maybe the water will be missing, but that’s okay. The fire-pit and barbeque grill make up for it in more ways than we’d care to count.
5) A sunroom

Have view, will stare. Every day. And from the glass sunroof. Also, it should be made of polished dark wood, have those opulent vintage chandeliers and an endless supply of good music, books and drinks.
6) A pool theater
Home theaters are overrated. Pool Theater is where it’s at. A pool big enough for a dozen floats, pool couches and the like, an awesome (even fairly decent works) home theater system, chilled beers, and movie-night just got a brand new definition.
7) A reading nook

We want our reading nook to have a window on the ceiling that lets us look up at the sky. And, a door that leads into our very own library, which in turn has a ladder or slide that leads us directly into the closet or the kitchen. It doesn’t matter how this can be pulled off, we WANT!
8) A shower with multiple shower-heads
The tired muscles NEED to be relaxed, but no one has the time for the spa. Instead, step into the bathroom that has jets shooting warm water from all angles. All you have to do is just stand there and breathe.
9) Outdoor porch and bed
Having an outdoor porch with a swing that doubles up as a bed is just mega-awesome. On those days, when the weather leaves you in two minds over whether to head outdoors or stay snuggled indoors, this swing-bed give you the answer. We just want to grab a book and the blanket, curl up on the swing and doze off while enjoying the light breeze.
Outrageous? Maybe. Expensive? Yes. But none of it should stop you from trying. Small baby steps in the right direction are all you need. Dream away!
