Mirrors are a great wall decoration that you can use in order to create a fantastic atmosphere at home. They are also practical because it has been proved that you can use them in order to make your home well-lit, thanks to their reflections and glares.
But that is not all. Mirrors can be also used in order to add more space to your home, thanks to an optical illusion. For example, put a large mirror on one of the walls of the room, so that it gets to the floor. You will see how the mirror creates the illusion that you can move through it, which optically makes the room look bigger. There are many ideas that you can use mirrors at home for, especially if you let your imagination flow and use your creativity.
Here are a couple of ideas that will help you make your own mirrors at home, using literally everything you have at home:
Mirror Frames
Of course, you can try to create a mirror by yourself, but we do not recommend that. Making a mirror is not an easy job and unless you are specialized in mirror making, we suppose that you won’t be able to create the flashy and glazed surface that you are supposed to. So, instead of investing any time, efforts and money into something that is beyond your strength, you can invest the same into making your own mirror frames that will take care of the atmosphere of your home.
Mosaic Mirrors

Mirrors with mosaic frames look pretty fashionable and artistic on the walls. Not to mention the fact that these frames look quite exotic and resemble traditional Moroccan style, which can help you make your home look quite fabulous. In addition, you can make your own style of mosaic, which means that you can use literally everything you have – even some pieces of broken teacups.
The mosaic mirrors are done pretty easily. All you need is a small wooden platform that you can use in order to make a frame for your favourite mirror. Make your already broken China into suitable smaller pieces and stick them to the wood with some hot glue. Then make a cement solution that you should use in order to fill the gaps between the pieces. If you want to, you can also use some special paints in order to add some colour to your mirror frame.
Antique Mirrors
Antique mirrors can help you to make your home look classy and cosy, mainly because of their beautiful frames. However, some of them are pretty expensive. Why give so much money on something that you can actually take care of yourself?
Get an old wooden frame that fits your favourite mirror. You can paint it, bronze it or just add some coating on it in order to make it look stylish and match your interior design. You can also experiment with different shapes and sizes and decorate a wall at home not with pictures, but with framed mirrors. How gorgeous is that?
Non-Standard Mirrors

Last but not the least, we present you an idea that the more artistic people would probably like. How about making your own “wooden” mirror frame, using some clothes pegs? You should know that this kind of frame works best for round mirrors.
All you need are some wooden clothes pegs and a platform that is bigger than your mirror. Place the mirror on the platform (you can even use an old plate) and stick it with a hot glue gun. Wait until it’s dry and then start pinching the clothes peg on the “frame”. If you are afraid that they are not very stable, you can also glue them to the platform. Experiment – paint them in different colours or leave them the way they are in order to make your own perfect mirror frame. Be creative and have fun!
